Kara

A quick recap: we found Kara, one of the black females, dragging her back end around 2 or 3 weeks ago. We called the vet and asked him to meet us at his surgery (it being Sunday he was day off). He anaesthetized her, x-rayed, injected with painkillers and antibiotics and diagnosed a broken pelvis. He reckoned she had either been kicked or trodden on. He gave us 3 choices, he could operate, but it would be tricky with no guarantee of success, he could put her down, or we could confine her in a small space for a fortnight and see if she would mend naturally. We chose the latter, took her home and nursed her for the last few weeks. When we took her back to the vet he was amazed at the improvement in her. We tried to re-introduce her to her siblings and mum, but they rejected her, so she is still with us. We’ve advertised for a new home for her, but don’t hold out much hope, as there are just so many strays around. So now we have 3 ex-feral cats living with us, whereas a year ago we had zero. How did that happen? Do you know, 3 feral cats and they have never toileted anywhere else but the litter tray .. amazing!

As you can see, she is lively enough now ...

and that broken hip has repaired well. At the moment she still has a slight limp, which, hopefully in time will disappear.
