The Royal Wedding

By the day of the royal wedding we were back in Turkey. Our neighbour Anne had asked us to bring back the bunting and then we were going to have a wedding lunch as we all celebrated and watched the proceedings.

Kite Flying in Frinton

On Good Friday my brother took us and his family to Frinton where we all had a great day just peacefully flying kites.

Not content with that his grand-children also wanted to try the water. It must have been freezing, but they didn't care. They loved it.

Mersea Island

We took Mum, who will be 91 in May to the sea-side ... Mersea Island near Colchester.

There's not many Aprils that we could have been sitting on the beach in t-shirts in the UK. Meanwhile, in Turkey during this week, our friends tell us the weather was cool, wet and windy.

Quite a lot of people found their way to the beach while we were there ...

... so eventually we scarpered to a pub for lunch.

Bluebells

The bluebells in UK were early this year (as was everything else), so we were delighted to be able to go to see them.

They do have bluebells in Turkey, because we've bought them on the market, but we've never seen them growing. We haven't discovered where they can be found growing naturally.

Genus Reunion

We met up with a few of my ex-colleagues from Genus in the evening and had a very amusing time reminiscing.

Bowling

Before we left Ted and Margaret, they took us bowling, something we hadn't done since my 60th birthday party.

They go every week, so needless to say, they hammered us. But it was really good fun.
Here's Margaret bowling for a strike
Ted doesn't look so pleased with his effort does he?
10/10 for style ... content not so clever though!!
Thank you both so much for a good time.

Kessingland

These are our friends Margaret and Ted who moved back from Kusadasi last year having lived there for 5 years.

They  made us feel very welcome and we talked of the many changes since they left Turkey last year.

Southwold

The weather was unbelievable for a UK April. The skies were bluer than Turkey's.

Here I'm in Southwold polishing the plaque we had placed on the end of the pier in memory of my dad, who just a week before his passing, was standing at this very spot gazing out to sea. He loved it.

This is the view of Southwold from the end of the pier

The beach huts are just being moved from their winter locations to the summer ones

and this is the pier as seen from near the lighthouse

Our visit to the UK

You may have wondered why there have been no posts to the blog recently, well we've been in the UK visiting family and friends

Here we are in Cambridgeshire visiting Sue's brother and part of his family. We all decided we would have a Sunday lunch together ... guess what we had .... roast pork!!!! After a year of abstinence it tasted good.

A New Structure In Yesilkent

This new structure is going up behind the old Yesilkent Home Services office on Sahil Sitesi

It looks as though it will be shaded seating areas around some sort of feature.

Work at the Belediye tea Garden

Just as the season is starting, they appear to be doing some work on the Tea Garden on Altinkum Sea Front. New toilet blocks and more seating area we think ... watch this space!
