David's Extended Birthday

My birthday celebrations commenced on Wednesday when we went to a joint birthday meal at Celebi's in Akbuk. Helen (front left in picture) had her birthday on Sunday 8th, and mine was this Sunday (15th)

Kevin and Annette worked together to produce this wonderful cake which they brought round Saturday, the night before the big day

Sunday, we took a party of 18 to the ten pin bowling alley where we all had a great laugh .....here you can see us all building up the strength to hit the alley.

and then we took over the two lanes and knocked absolutely hell out of them as we all endeavoured to flatten those darned skittles.

and then we finished the day off with a lovely meal in The Bistro in Altinkum .... a 60th to remember .... thanks to all our friends!!

New Business

When a new business opens here in Didim, it is customary for other businesses and friends to send flowers to wish them good luck and success for the future. Here a new jewellers has just opened.

Lawn Mowers

No this isn't Didim's estates department feeling the pinch, and saving on grass-cutting

just the local goat-herder making the most of any greenery around.

New Hotel

As we said yesterday, Turkey is also feeling the credit crunch ..

The new 5 Star complex being built at Pine beach has come to a standstill,

We understand that the Scandinavian partners have had to withdraw,

This would have been the view from the swimming pool

and this would have been the reception.

A walk in the sun

With interest rates here being slashed, effectively cutting our income by 25%, and us ex-pats not being allowed to work here, which is just as well as un-employment is high here and rising, the global credit crunch is certainly being felt here in Turkey ..

However, a walk in the sun is free, so we can still enjoy ourselves ..
