Stuart's 60th

Today was Stuart's 60th birthday and to celebrate He and Pat decided to invite a few friends to the Didim Cafe for a meal.

We had a wonderful meal, one of the best steak meals we've had in Turkey since we've been here ...

and they even managed a romantic twirl!!1

Security

With so many burglaries occurring in Yeşilkent this year, Yeşilkent Sahil Sitesi have blocked off all but one entrances to the estate and are now installing a gate at the main entrance, monitored by cameras.

We are told that this will be a motorised gate ....

we will see what effect this will have on crime in the area, but meanwhile it makes it more difficult to visit friends on the estate and with all traffic now entering via Cadde 1, will make that road very busy!!

Mobile Haystack

A short while ago a solitary man came with a sickle and chopped down some of the vegetation that had grown up on the building sites and common land around us. We thought the council were cost-cutting again, but no, he was cutting it for his animals.

Then they loaded it on this pick-up, creating a mobile haystack.

Akbuk Market

Had a change from the ritual today and went to Akbuk market. Very hot, very busy but we bumped into a whole load of friends all doing the same thing.

Our Garden

Our garden is looking pretty as a picture at the moment so we thought we'd share it with you ..

As we sailed past LadyBird Beach (in front of Blue Restaurant) this afternoon, some of you may be interested to know that the sand has been levelled out in readiness for the summer visitors. Much earlier this year than last, thank goodness.

A brief sojourn in Akyarlar

Where is Akyarlar we hear you cry ... well if you turn left in Turgetreis when you hit the coast and travel about15Km along the coast road, then you will arrive in the pretty little village of Akyarlar. After meeting an ex-colleague for lunch in Turgetries and chatting about old times over lunch, we decided to take a couple of days here in Akyarlar and chill.

Our hotel was the Sunny Garden Nulifer, a lovely little hotel built like little houses that cling to the side of the hill around a swimming pool

From here we explored the coastline ... and found some fabulous views

as well as some camels on the appropriately named Camel Beach.

Sometimes a short break does you the world of good.
