Nari Safi Revisited

We and our neighbours Mary and Nicky visited Nari Safi up by the Temple of Apollo. It's a lovely little restaurant. This year new people seem to be running it and the menu has been extended.

Every Friday and Saturday night they have live music.

Over the last few weeks, the road around the temple has been cobbled, seats and lighting installed and statues have been erected. It's really attractive, and we will go back and get some more pictures for this blog.

  1. My wife and I were a part of a foursome. We were welcomed when we arrived, of course then we were about to be ripped off. The food menu was limited as they said more than half the list was not available. We however stuck with it, made the effort to enjoy the evening, joining in the fun sent our way by a trio of musicians who did their best to make us feel part of their evening so thank you to them. The food was simply OK, typical local menu and preparation really. The problem came when as Emma has stated the owner decided to charge us 75TL for what he started the evening charging us the equivalent per bottle of 30 TL. When queried he stated that a glass of wine on the table was 10TL, to bring the bottle (3 glasses) was 75TL, but he refused to explain how this rule applied. In the end he was informed that I spend an awful lot of Lira in local establishments each week, and that by being greedy on this one occasion, he had lost a lot of potential profit. We paid and then left the premises. As leaving through the door a mass of abuse was thrown at us from behind including the words ”this is Turkey, we do not want the F----ng British here. This is a Turkish bar and we do not want F----ng British here”. I feel that there are always some foolish uneducated types everywhere in the world, if locally you wish to avoid them then steer clear of this restaurant. They have made it clear they will smile to your face and take your cash, but there is an underlying racial issue here.
