A pool of our own

Keeping cool at his time of the year is always a problem. We've finally succumbed to a pool. We do prefer to swim in the sea, but by the time you've walked back, you need another dip to cool off again.



So here we are having a refreshing dip

Dragonflies

As we haven't ventured far recently, these dagonflies have been our companions as we shade bathe, trying to keep cool.

Annual clear-up

The Annual clear-up of the park has begun ... this year by two men with strimmers

Street Party

Mustafa, a good friend , invited us to join a street party in Yeşilkent with our Turkish and UK neighbours.

As night wore on, things got sillier ...

But it was a lot of fun and we all had a good time.

Sunset at Mavesehir

Mavişehir night market is now in full swing, and we had a nice relaxing evening shopping in the cool evening breeze, followed by gözleme on the sea-shore watching the sun set.

We have some good sunsets in Yeşilkent too

Holiday Time

With 2nd year uni exams finished, Hayley (our grand-daughter) and her friend Cate came to "chill" in the sun and wind-down.

While they were with us they found plenty to keep themselves entertained. 

They came sailing with us ......

They also did some kneel boarding and water-skiing ....

Cate also enjoyed "driving" Gary's boat ...

We oldies also had to join in ...

They enjoyed one of the local boat trips ...

and enjoyed sampling the local cuisine ...

but all too soon it was time for them to leave, we miss them both.

The new restaurant at the Police Academy

The original restaurant at the Police Academy has been shut. Apparently a large subsidence has occurred on the patio. STOP PRESS: We hear that this restaurant may re-open soon ... apparently they are just waiting for staff to arrive.
 However, a new establishment has been created on the opposite side of the peninsular.





It gives you different, beautiful views from the clifftop, and there are steps down to a private beach which is available to clientel.

The new restaurant can cater for a lot of people, but as you can see, not too many people have found it yet!!

This picture just illustrates how the new hotel towers over our little village and dominates the sky-line.

Beautiful Altinkum at night

The bright lights of Altinkum all reflected in a calm sea.

Is this Great Yarmouth or Blackpool? No ... this not so pretty new departure is on the sea-front in Altinkum ... although, as you can see, no gaming machines (gambling forbidden except in strictly licenced premises) and no clients!!

Two new Venues in Yesilkent

We have two new venues in Yeşilkent, both located within the grounds of the Seahorse complex.

There is the underground restaurant "Aqua" where you can watch the activity in the swimming pool from a fishes perspective (some bodies might put you off your food maybe ??)



and the other is a little Bistro Bar known as "The Corner" and, as the name suggests, it can be found in the corner of the complex nearest the road.

Friends

We also took the opportunity to catch up with several friends. First we went to Southwold ... on the pier is a plaque in memory of David's dad which we cleaned ....





and then we moved to the restaurant on the pier which we used as a rendezvous point for us and our friends to catch up on each others news

From there we moved over to Norfolk to meet more friends

Obviously we also had quite a lot of retail therapy whilst in the UK. We stayed with my brother some of the time and this next picture is for all you cat lovers ... it's his cat called Peaches

UK spring gardens

In the gardens all the trees and bushes were in full bloom





you forget just how lovely spring is in the UK

The Bluebells

One thing that struck us was the beautiful colours around the fields and gardens of England.


Take these bluebells for example that we found in an ancient woodland near Ipswich ... they stretch as far as the eye can see.




and the smell was absolutely gorgeous
